Here are my Thursday Thoughts, a short list of the most interesting things that I’ve read, heard, and/or watched over the past week.

What I Watched:
Air
“Air” delves into the groundbreaking collaboration between Nike and Michael Jordan. At the heart of the narrative is Sonny Vaccaro, a basketball marketing executive, who plays a pivotal role in persuading Jordan to sign with Nike.
Even with everything out there about both Nike and Michael Jordan, from Phil Knight’s “Shoe Dog” to “The Last Dance” documentary, certain elements of this film caught me by surprise. For instance, I didn’t know that Jordan was the first athlete to get a percentage of his shoe sales. It seems so obvious now that athletes would get a cut of their shoe sales. But this wasn’t the norm until the advent of Air Jordans.
Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the New York Jets
Hard Knocks follows one NFL team through training camp and the preseason. For me, the show signals the start of the American football season. It serves as a reminder to dive deep into player and team research, gearing up for fantasy football and sports betting.
The choice of the Jets as the focal point of “Hard Knocks” this season is intriguing. They made a big move this offseason to acquire Aaron Rodgers. This transaction has shaped their mentality for training camp and the season. They want to win a Super Bowl now. It shows through in team meeting and locker room speeches.
What I Tried:
friend.tech
friend.tech is a cutting-edge social finance app, anchored on the Base blockchain. The app’s unique feature is the “key” system, allowing users to access one another by purchasing these digital keys. The pricing of these keys is governed by a bonding curve, ensuring the price escalates with each purchase and tapers off when sold.
I experimented with the app for about a week before deleting it. There were concerns about privacy and the developer’s behaviors from past projects. That said, I had fun speculating on content creators and checking out the onboarding process.
