What I Wrote:

It’s been a while since I wrote an essay. It feels good to write, edit, and publish a longer piece.
I wrote this piece as an update to my previous essay on passing the structural engineering licensure exam. The original essay was written over five years ago. It was written as a letter addressed to my former self. A handful of people read the piece and bought the suggested materials despite the poor formatting and writing style.
My goal with the update was to make the information easier to read and understand. Hopefully this essay did that.
What I Read:
I Sell Onions on the Internet | Deep South Ventures
This article is about a web developer who bought a domain name about onions. He then created an entire business around the domain, selling onions on the internet.
The blog post presented a unique approach to building an online business. I did not expect to learn lessons in entrepreneurship going into the piece. I left inspired at all the different ways there is to make money online.
The End of the Millennial Lifestyle Subsidy | The Atlantic
Inflation has made everything more expensive. I guess it’s come for tech services as well. I had no idea that prices for these services, such as Uber and Doordash, were rising.
I enjoyed this article because it breaks down a complex economic issue into something that is easy to understand. I wouldn’t have put together that higher interest rates and VC funding would lead to higher prices for ride sharing and delivery apps.
What I’m Pondering:
There’s magic, positive magic, in such phrases as: “I may be wrong. I frequently am. Let’s examine the facts."
