Thursday Thoughts - 03/24/2022
In this short newsletter, I share the most interesting things that I’ve read, heard, and/or watched over the past week.
What I’ve Read:
Shoe Dog | Phil Knight
Phil Knight shares how he turned a tiny shoe importing business into one of the most famous brands in Shoe Dog. I wasn’t aware of Nike’s beginnings, so this book was an eye opener. I was struck by Phil Knight’s pragmatism. Although his passion was running and shoes, he stuck with accounting for many years until the shoe sales took off. I also enjoyed Knight’s candor, as the memoir showed both the ups and downs of running a business.
What I’ve Watched:
Making Fun | Netflix
The premise of Making Fun is simple. Jimmy DiResta and his friends make things that kids suggest. The show is fun with tons of jokes and quirky transitions. I appreciate watching these makers practice their craft.
What I’m Pondering:
“A small act is worth a million thoughts.”
This quote is a simple reminder to have a bias towards action.
