Here are my Thursday Thoughts, a short list of the most interesting things that I’ve read, heard, and/or watched over the past week.

What I Tried:

Apple Watch Timers App

It takes about 7 minutes to warm up the milk in our bottle warmer. So I often turn the warmer on and leave to do something else, usually on my MacBook. I would get lost in whatever I’m doing and forgot about the milk. It would be too hot and I would need to cool the bottle under running water. I recently started using the Apple Watch’s Timer app as a reminder to get the milk.

It’s work surprisingly well. I can now confidently go back to my laptop without worrying about the milk being too hot.

The Timers app is also great for night feeds. I need to get up in the middle of the night to feed my daughter. But I don’t want to wake her up. The Apple Watch is perfect for this because the vibrating alarm wakes me up without disturbing my daughter.

What I Watched:

Ms Rachael - Toddler Learning Videos

I discovered Ms Rachel at a dinner playdate. My friend put on one of Ms Rachel’s videos after dinner. Everyone, from 4 months old to 40 years old, was transfixed by the bright colors and lively songs.

Ms Rachel is one of the trendiest things among moms with young children. She uses techniques recommended by speech therapists and early childhood experts to help children learn important milestones and preschool skills. The songs and skits are very engaging and highly entertaining.

I was surprised that her most popular video over 600 million views!

Episode 10: How to Enjoy Doing Hard Things (ft. Ali Abdaal)

Ali Abdaal talks about his latest book, Feel Good Productivity, with Mark Manson in this podcast episode.

I’ve watched Ali Abdaal’s Youtube channel for years. I always seem to come away with a new app or hack to try. I started using Roam Research for notes because of his videos.

Despite being a fan, I was skeptical on getting Abdaal’s book. I didn’t know if there was going to be anything new. But this interview with Mark Manson changed my mind. It seems to cover new ground on using emotions as a tool for getting things done.
