Leon's List - 2022 Week 13

Leon’s List is a weekly post about waiver wire players I’m keeping an eye on.

I hope everyone’s had a restful and festive Thanksgiving. We come back from the holidays with 2 weeks left in the fantasy football regular season.

There is a two man race for the top spot in the league. Alan and John O. are both 8-4 after convincing wins this week.

Alan has me and Mat as his last two opponents. John has Mat and Shawn. I don’t think there’s an advantage for either one of them. They should be favorites in both of their remaining games. It will probably come down to the tiebreaker to determine the winner. John has about a 100 point lead over Alan right now.

At the other end of the league, Jon C. is the only manager with a 4-8 record. Everyone else is within 2 games of each other. Some big matchups to look for this week are Vince (5-7) vs Dyrk (6-6) and Tyler (5-7) vs Simon (5-7). It’s shaping up to be a loser leaves town match for these teams.

FAAB Watch

There was a rush to get RB1s after a mix of injuries and cuts last week. Dyrk spent $31 on Latavius Murrary and the Chiefs defense. Vince outbid everyone with $18 for Samaje Perine. Simon spent $10 for both Joshua Palmer and James Cook.

Leon’s List

The list is heavy on QBs and RBs this week because it’s what I’m lacking. Also, there are a lot of question marks with lead running backs leaving games last week. So you are getting all my research into these two positions.

Mike White (QB - NYJ)

Mike White showed that almost anyone is better than Zach Wilson on Sunday. He thew for 315 yards and 3 touchdowns in the pouring rain. This gave him 26.8 fantasy points, which is the 4th best for QBs in Week 12.

The Jets have Minnesota, Buffalo, Detroit, Jacksonville, and Seattle as their next 6 opponents. Other than Buffalo, these defenses are nothing to be scared of. It’s definitely possible to pick up Mike White and ride him to a league title.

Trevor Lawrence (QB - JAX)

Trevor Lawrence finally showed why he was the number one draft pick in 2021. He lit up the Ravens in the 4th quarter with dime after dime. He finished as the 8th best quarterback for the week in fantasy. He also scored more than 20 fantasy points in his last two games.

The Jaguars face Detroit and Tennessee in the next two weeks. The Lions have the league’s worst defense. The Titans funnel everything to the pass. This sets up Lawrence nicely for the final stretch of the fantasy football regular season.

JaMycal Hasty (RB - JAX)

Travis Etienne left the game last week with a foot injury. Apparently the injury wasn’t serious and he could have returned if needed. I’m not sure how much truth there is to that. But if Etienne is hampered by the injury, JaMycal Hasty slots in as an intriguing play.

Hasty had 12 carries and 5 catches for 95 scrimmage yards and a touchdown last Sunday. As mentioned above, the Jaguars get the Lions and their horrible defense this week.

Zonovan Knight (RB - NYJ)

Michael Carter suffered a low ankle sprain against the Bears. He is questionable heading into the game against the Vikings this week.

When Carter was out of the game, Zonovan Knight got twice as many snaps as Ty Johnson. He also carried the ball 14 times to Johnson’s five times. Overall, Knight scored 12.3 fantasy points last week.

Jordan Mason (RB - SF)

The running back injuries keep piling up for San Francisco. Elijah Mitchell suffered a MCL injury and is out 6-8 weeks. To make matters worse, CMC is day-to-day dealing with “knee irritation”.

The next man up in this dynamic offense is Jordan Mason. Mason is an undrafted rookie from Georgia Tech. He gained 25 yards on 5 carries last week. He should be under heavy consideration given the proficiency of the Niners’ rushing attack and CMC’s injury history.

Benny Snell Jr (RB - PIT)

Najee Harris left the game on Monday Night Football with an ab injury. Jaylen Warren, Najee’s backup for most of the year, was inactive with a hamstring injury. This left running back duties to Benny Snell and Anthony McFarland.

Snell got the majority of the work after Najee left the game. Snell finished the game with 12 rushes for 62 yards and a touchdown. I would assume Snell is the lead back if Najee and Warren aren’t able to play this week.

Best Things I Saw

  • The Jacksonville Jaguar’s mascot is named Jaxson de Ville. On Sunday, he was wearing a speedo with the USA flag. He was also thrusting his hips after this JaMycal Hasty touchdown. Florida is weird.
  • Brian Robinson had his first 100 yard rushing game this past week. To celebrate, he wore a “big hat” after changing out of his uniform. I’m not sure what’s more ridiculous, the big hat or Jaxson de Ville.
