Here are my Thursday Thoughts, a short list of the most interesting things that I’ve read, heard, and/or watched over the past week.

What I Read:
Expectations Debt
This piece is a short read on the downsides of being successful. When you get to the top, there’s an expectation that more greatness will follow. Most times this level of achievement is unsustainable. The expectations debt is what must be paid when things return normal.
This idea makes me reflect on optimism. Every time we embrace an optimistic outlook, it comes with its own set of expectations to fulfill. Is this the price we pay for our positive thinking?
What I Tried:
Firefox Focus
Lately, I’ve been exploring Firefox Focus, a private mobile browser. As an alternative to my usual browser, Safari, it has captivated me enough to consider making a permanent switch.
There’s a couple features that make it stand out:
- Inability to have multiple tabs, allowing me to focus solely on one site.
- Trashcan icon that clears browsing history with a single tap.
What I Built:
Concrete Paver Outdoor Shed Foundation
Last week, my wife and I spotted a 5x8 compact shed on sale at Costco for $799 and decided to purchase it. We had been looking for something to store all the crap on our patio. Initially, I thought the installation would be easy, similar to assembling an Ikea dresser.
However, after going through the instructions, I realized I was gravely mistaken. I had to construct a sturdy and level foundation for the shed to sit on. I opted for a concrete paver foundation after consulting this video and blog.
The entire installation process took an entire weekend. The shed is positioned at the bottom of a hill in our backyard, so the most challenging part was excavating the soil to create a level foundation.
I’m relieved that the shed is now complete, and our patio is clutter-free.
