Leon's List - 2024 Week 8

Leon’s List is a weekly post about waiver wire players I’m keeping an eye on.

Baker and Dicker

I thought I was good going into Monday Night. I was up about 10 points with 4 players left. Vince, my opponent had Baker Mayfield and Cameron Dicker still to play.

His two players scored 50 points combined.

I almost lost the week to Baker and Dicker.

Thankfully, Kyler Murray came through with a long rushing touchdown to save my week.

Here’s my list for Week 8:

Jameis Winston (QB - CLE)

Deshaun Watson ruptured his Achilles’ tendon on Sunday, ending his season and maybe his time in Cleveland.

Even though Dorian Thompson-Robinson was the backup QB on Sunday, I expect Winston to be the starting quarterback moving forward. He looked good with his limited snaps last week. He found David Njoku for a touchdown and converted the ensuing 2 point conversion.

I don’t think there’s enough time in the season to repeat the 30 for 30 season. Maybe he can do a 20 for 20?

Keon Coleman (WR - BUF)

Keon Coleman broke out for his best game of the season last week. He caught 4 passes for 125 yards on 7 targets.

Amari Cooper is going to draw extra attention from opposing defenses. This will give Coleman more space to operate and catch passes.

I like buying Coleman’s upside and the Bills offense.

Jauan Jennings (WR - SF)

The Niners can’t catch a break this season.

Brandon Aiyuk is out for the season with an ACL/MCL injury. Deebo Samuel went to the hospital because fluids were in his lungs. George Kittle has a sprained foot and is day-to-day.

Jauan Jennings was inactive last week because of a hip injury. However, Kyle Shanahan is hopeful that he will be back this week. If he’s able to make it back, I am expecting a ton of targets and fantasy points.

The Niners were without their top players in Week 3 against the Rams. In that game, Jennings caught 11 passes for 175 yards and 3 touchdowns. He scored 41 fantasy points!

I’m not saying history will repeat itself but it often rhymes.

Cedric Tillman (WR - CLE)

Amari Cooper’s trade to the Bills leaves an opening for the rest of the Cleveland receivers.

Most people expected Jerry Jeudy to take the top spot. But the numbers show that Cedric Tillman made the most of the opportunity. Tillman got targeted 12 times last week. Only David Njoku saw more targets.

The Browns offense could get back on track with Jameis Winston and Nick Chubb. Tillman could make a nice stack with Winston.

Jalen McMillan (WR - TB) & Cade Otton (TE - TB)

Both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin left yesterday’s game with injuries. Evans looked like he tweaked his already ailing hamstring. Godwin had to leave the field with an air cast around his leg.

This leaves the door open for Jalen McMillan and Cade Otton. I think both will play big parts in the Buc’s passing attack. This is good news as Baker Mayfield has been on fire.
